In case of an Investment company/ banking company accepting deposits, in the ordinary course of business, and such company furnishes name and address of the depositors as a supporting for the list of the constributors. Is that such proof furnished is enough or PAN required? Furnish with some basis.
1st of all name & add of depositors is not a PROOF of identity. It is just an information provided. This information when profided by an investment co/ a bank is considered authentic because it is "supposed" that banks must have taken proper ID proof like- PAN/election card.

Is there any case law that states that some proof as to PAN/voter card is required in a case a depositor deposits a sum. As far as the provisions in law, PAN is required to be quoted in certain cases, but no where it has been stated that the PAN is required to be taken in a case.
