For quoted shares 10% long term capital gains tax payable and for short term 15% tax payable. The long term capital gains from unlisted shares are taxed at 20 per cent u/s 112 of the IT Act after claiming the benefit of indexation whereas the short term capital gains are applicable slab rate of the investor.
