29 December 2011 On which value the telecom company (i.e MTNL/ BSNL) is liable to pay service tax on recharge coupan.

31 December 2011 As per recent case law Service tax is payable on Gross amount received from the Customer i.e Gross amount of the coupon.
If coupon is Rs 50 and the talk time is 45.50
the telecom company has to pay Service tax on Rs 50.

03 January 2012 Ravi Thanks for the reply.
But telecom company did not received Rs. 50. Telecom company sells the coupan to retailers for rs. less than 50. And as per Valuation rules we have to pay service tax on the Gross value received.
Please also refer specific case law or section, if any
