URGENT- Sign on audit reports without FRN No.

08 September 2010 I have applied for membership no., COP, and prop. Firm registration in form no. 2.
As shown in members list in ICAI website i have got membership no. today but I have not recieved my firm registration no. According to telephonic conversation to institute office it will take 15-20 days to registration of firm.

whether I can sign tax audit reports without having firm registration no. or firm name.

08 September 2010 You can sign with out FRNo. upto 30/09/2010 since it is mandatory only from 1/10/2010.

whether it is not mandatory to show firm name. whether upto 30/09/2010 a CA holding COP, not attached to any Firm can sign on tax audit reports.

Kindly solve my queries.

08 September 2010 sir, i think FRN is mandatory w.e.f. 01.04.2010. if not correct pl do write.

if a member is practising in individual name, can sign in individual capacity

The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, in terms of the decision taken at the 296th meeting held in June 2010 has decided to extend the requirement to mention the firm registration number to all reports issued pursuant to any attestation engagement, including certificates, issued by the members as proprietor of/ partner in the said firm. The requirement shall apply where such firm registration number has been allotted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

The Council further decided to make this requirement effective for all attestation reports/ certificates issued on or after 1st October, 2010.

26 August 2011 Chakrapani Sir, I think you interpreted notification wrongly. It is telling requirement for extended scope and not the original scope which was "Audit Reports" and the date applicable was on or after 01.04.2010.
