04 February 2012 Dear sir,
I had filed my online income tax return with the claim of refund of Rs. 5000/- in A.Y. 2011-12. However it has been processed with the status of Nil demand / refund. Accordingly an intimation u/s 143(1) received by e-mail showing nil tax credit of TDS.
Thereafter I examined my form 26AS and found out that 2 entries out of total 10, corresponding the sum of Rs. 500/- each are with status of U (unmatch).
What can I do in such a case ? -
1. To ask my deductor to file correction statement of his TDS return.
2. To file a online rectification with the claim of refund only for Rs. 4000/- .
3. To file a online rectification for the refund of whole amount of Rs. 5000/-.
4. If the deductor denies to file correction statement, then can I get the partial refund by claiming only Rs. 4000/- in rectification upload.
Please advice me.
Thanks.

04 February 2012 you have to ask the deductor to correct his return if you want the full refund. You cannot file rectidication to get the whole refund. Now a days form 16 is generated frm nsdl site and issued by deductor where he has to ensure that all the entries has 'Matched' status

05 February 2012 As per instruction 01/2012 dated 2/2/2012, TDS claim may be accepted without verification if unmatched amount does not exceed Rs. one lac.
Citing this ,you may file online rectification seeking Rs.5,000/- as refund.
