(5)A trust is a creature of equity. It comes into being when an individual or a group transfer(s) the beneficial interests in property to one or more trustees who are to hold and use the property to benefit others in some clearly identifiable way.
A society is a creation of law. To constitute a society, a group must come together and comply with the criteria laid down in the enabling statute. The purpose of the society will be specified by the group within the limits of the particular statute
