19 September 2008 We purchased some parts For Rs, 30000/- and paid labour charges rs. 5000/- and got a single bill for Rs. 30000+Sales Tax And Rs. 5000+ Service tax.

I have to deduct TDS on which amount or do not have to deduct TDS. pls clarify

19 September 2008 If it is a single invoice TDS attracts U/S 194C,in the given case,for the gross amount.

19 September 2008 Will TDS deducted on sale component of rs. 30000+Sales tax also?

Total invoice value is Ra. 40000/- inclusive of all taxes(Sales Tax + Service Tax.
Is TDS deductable on sale component?

19 September 2008 When a supplier raised single invoice for goods and service provided by him, you have to deduct tax on whole invoice value as you are not authorised to segragate the sum in the invoice and hence deduct TDS on Whole i.e. Rs. 40000/-

02 October 2008 If the service tax component is identifiable separately tax need not be deducted on the service TAX amount
