If a company proposes to purchase optionlly/compulsory convertible prefernce shares of a listed entity then will takeover code be trigred ?

But the defination of the shares specially excludes preference shares ? So how to interprete that defination provided in SEBI (SAST) Regulation 1997 ?
In case u have any case laws or clarification/ Notification please provide.
