Provision for gratuity

One of my clients want to make provision for gratuity beginning from 2005 onwards. The audit for 2005 is going on. so They wants to know for calculating the provision for the year 2005 whether they can take the present salary (2009) instead of 2005 as base.

Please advise me

03 November 2009 In my views if you are making provision for 2005 you should calculate grtuity on basic salary+da end of the yr 2005.

03 November 2009 Agree with expert otherwise the provision will be overstated assuming salary has been increased from 2005 to 2009.
