Practising C.A. act as a Director??

This query is : Resolved

02 July 2009 I am a full time practising C.A.
now I got an offer from a company to be its Director with remuneration of Rs.25000 p.m.
now i want to know that whether i could Accept this offer and receive remuneration and at the same time i dont want to leave my practice also.
Please repply.

02 July 2009 Hello Vandana,

As per my opinion you can accept such offer provided you are not Statutory Auditor of that particular company in order to maintain independance of auditor.

In other words being a director of that company you may continue your practice.

Views of other Experts solicited.

Best Regards

02 July 2009 agree with MR. Garg

02 July 2009 No. A practising CA cannot get appointed as a Director in a company with remuneration. He can only be a 'Director Simplicitor'with the permission of ICAI.
