22 January 2011 Just put the date of birth in 49A without any proof.

22 January 2011 thank u very much sir for your help.

22 January 2011 No. Proof is a must. Get a certificate from the municipal / corporation / panchayath councilar / member particularly showing the date of birth, and enclose the same with form 49A which will suffice from my experience.

N.B. I had uploaded the format of the certificate to include in the 'shared file' section of this club but the admin had ,it seems, rejected it meaning thereby not included so far for member's reference.

23 January 2011 No proof of date of birth is required if you applying for a new PAN. If if you want correction for date of birth of an existing PAN , proof is required for correction.

23 January 2011 Rule 114(4) of the Income tax Rules,1962 says, documents for proof of identity and proof of address need only to be attached with form 49A. I stand corrected to that extent.

23 January 2011 Agree with warrier Sir..
