I have received a notice from Income Tax Department stating that I have not filed the income tax return for f.y. 2012-13. TDS in interest is shown in 26AS and Salary Income is also shown. Although there was no TDS. I have never filed Income Tax Return before as Total income is not above Basic Exemption Limit. So how should i comply with the requirement and if I select Other option in complience tab then can i mention that Return is not filed as total income in below basic expemption limit????

Yes do it that way. Any how separate option will be there to click total income below exemption limit.
