Holding full time cop as well as employment

This query is : Resolved

18 November 2011 Dear Experts,

Please help me on the following query....

It is given under Professional ethics, that a CA who is in practice having full time COP is generally given permission to accept a full time employment under a Chartered Accountant in practice or a firm of such chartered accountants.

Answer is anticipated ASAP.

Regardsss

18 November 2011 A CA in practice can become employee in a CA firm. But in that case, status of his COP will be Part time COP.

Part time COP means you can not sign as a CA. You can provide only consultancy services.

However if you want to join bigger firms(Big 4's), you will have to surrender your COP.

19 November 2011 This is not correct Sir, Even if a ca is in employment in industry other than ca firm then also he is eligible to have part time cop. but my question is that if a ca is employee under a ca firm then he can hold full time cop. There should be any difference in employment under ca firm and that under industry because it is specifically given under ethics that employment under ca firm is generally permissible, not under industry.
