ABC Private Limited is having registered office in New Delhi.
One of the company's directors or DSC signatory is in Chennai, who is e-filing the form.
Please clarify the basic query, which I have :
Whether in Form ITR-6, should the company mention the location as 'NEW DELHI' or 'CHENNAI'.
As the form is e-filed using DSC, is it appropriate to mention the location as 'NEW DELHI' only, as the registered office of the company is at New Delhi, even though the form is e-filed by the DSC signatory in Chennai.
May I presume that the "location" mentioned by you is "place" mentioned in the verification part of ITR 6. If it is so, since the return is verified at Chennai by the DSC holder, the location ,as per my understanding ,may be shown as Chennai. There are two reasons for this. 1) If he department wants, they can trace the computer system from where the return of income has been uploaded. 2) False verification may lead to prosecution of the signatory under section 277 of the Income tax Act,1961. N.B :- The second point, as you very well know, is also given in instruction no. 16 of the ITR-6.
