CST is a tax levied by Central Government under the Central Sales Tax Act,1956 on movement of goods from one state to another by way of sale. Input credit will not be allowed for CST vide the state VAT. Present CST rate on the strength of C form is 2%. Without C form 10% or VAT rate which ever is higher.

I believe the present position is VAT rate whether it is 2% ,4% ,8% or 12% ,in all cases same as VAT rate(for without C form/unregistered dealer)

Section 8(2)(b) of the CST Act,1956 is reproduced below:- "in the case of goods other than declared goods, shall be calculated at the rate of ten per cent or at the rate applicable to the sale or purchase of such goods inside the appropriate State, whichever is higher".
