11 May 2021 Assessee Recd. share under Merger. how to determine period of holding. Date of acquisition or date of share allotted under merger??

pleases suggest with provision/ section under IT Act.

11 May 2021 Cost of acquisition for new shares received would be the same as the cost of acquisition for shares held in amalgamating company. The period of holding of shares also to be reckoned from the time shares were held in amalgamating company.
