My Uncle is a Super Senior Citizen,aged 88 years,having Income from Govt. Pension & Interest from Time Deposits.(b)He had to leave for USA on 23rd.May,2017 & accordingly,based on 26AS( run-date 19 the.May,,)Self-Assessment Tax for A.Y was Rs7820.(c)I again retrieved Form 26 AS on 26 the.June,2017 & find that SBI has credited RS.1.05 lakhs, resulting in Self-Assesment Tax as Rs.23400.(d)Querry:Is there any time limit for making correctio ns/ amendments by Tax Deductor in Form 26AS for the financial year,if so,the period may please be advised.R.Dayal(27/6)

No time limit for making correction / amendments by Tax Deductor in Form 26AS for the financial year. Rectifications can be filed and tax paid after filing the return.

There is no time limit as such from Govt side to update 26 AS. Logically also, the TDS return for the period ending 31/03/2017 can be filed by SBI by 30/05/2017. So obviously, 26AS may get updated once the TDS returns are filed.
