27 July 2011 Hi can a person claim the refund for A.y. 09-10 as no return was filed by him? What happened if the last return was filed by the person for A.Y.2003-04 as resident. thereafter he became non resident and did not file any return till date but in May 2008 he made some investment in Indian bank as fixed deposit from NRE account and tds was deducted by the bank on same.No other income was there.

27 July 2011 Last date for filing of Return for AY 2009-10 was 31/03/2011. Now the same has expired so no remedy available.

27 July 2011 You may apply to the commissioner of income tax under section 119 of the income tax act,1961 seeking to give direction to the ITO to accept your return for the a.y 2009-10. After getting such direction, u may file the said return and seek refund.
