We want to liquidate a private limited company. Who can be appointed as liquidator? whether a practicing CA can act as liquidator? Or how to appoint? Please provide the details about liquidator.

Yes. A practicing CA can act as liquidator. But he needs to be empaneled for the same.

There is an official appointed by the Union Govt designated as Official Liquidator.High Courts also appoint a person as liquidator or Receiver of a sinking company.This is a very long process,often requiring court approval for closing the matter. in case of voluntary winding up, company shall appoint the liquidator. refere section 490(1).
