18 December 2009 I have a maruti dealership. Whether expenditure on banners for roadshows be liable for deduction of TDS ?
Whether deduction of TDS is mandatory on printing of pamphlets, bill books, etc. when material is not supplied by me ?

18 December 2009 Yes, section 194C would apply in respect of supply of printed material as per prescribed specifications.

Circular: No. 715, dated 8-8-1995.

18 December 2009 yes sec.194C apply

18 December 2009 Thanks Ramesh.. Thanks Murtaza.. :)

19 December 2009 But in the case of printing pamphlets with out issuing materials by you, income tax need not be deducted as per the substituted section 194C with effect from 01/10/2009 because the said activity is excluded from the definition of 'work'mentioned in the said section.

19 December 2009 There's a lot of confusion regarding this issue. i am still not able to get a conclusive answer regarding the same. Let me clarify the facts further.. I am not supplying any material to the printer, he is using his own material for printing
(1) Visiting Cards
(2) Bill Books
(3) Banners
(4) Key chains
(5) Calenders
(6) Diaries

Is the treatment same for all the above ??

20 December 2009 if printer is charging VAT / sales tax than no TDS else TDS need to be deducted
