It means the party is not claiming a fresh cheque. For Stale cheque reverse the payment entry and if it is outstanding for a long time take it to other income.
Dr.Stale cheques Cr.Provision for expences . . . and if it is confirmed that receipient will not claim for fresh cheque u may treat it as miscellenous income
