18 November 2009 What are the maximum working hours that a company can have? I mean are there any restrictions on the number of hours as per Shops and Establishments Act? Are these applicable to all companies, whether manufacturing or service?

18 November 2009 An employee in a shop or commercial establishment cannot be required or allowed to work for more than 9 hours in a day and 48 hours in a week. {Section 14}

He must be allowed an interval of rest of at least one hour after five hours of continuous work {Section 15}

for manufacturing factory act applicable.
