14 September 2010 RECENTLY A PRESS RELEASE CAME FROM INCOMETAX DEPARTMENT THAT E-FILING ALONG WITH DIGITAL SIGNATURE IS COMPULSORY.BUT IT IS SAME TIME MENTIONED THAT IT IS AFTERPUBLISHED IN OFFICIAL GAZETTE.SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW EWHETHER ANY NOTIFICATION CAME IN THIS REGARD.

14 September 2010 It is effective from the date of publication in the official gazette. If returned filed before that without digital signature also a valid return.

In the said notification see clause 2 (ab).
Again this clause is to be read along with rule 12 of the Income tax Rules,1962 which will clear your requirement.
