I have received intimation for demand of additional tax.
If I pay online , how do I inmate back to income tax dptt. that additional demand has been paid.

write a letter to the officer from whose office the intimation had come along with the chllan copy of tax the you have paid, submit the same to him,they will take the same in their record.

demand has come by e-mail from intimations@cpc.gov.in, which cannot be replied,

the notice under section 245 is intimating you that the current refund arising in the return will be adjusted to prior year demand.
If you make the payment of demand before 30 days, then the payment will square off the demand, so the proposed adjustment cannot be done.
No need to inform ITD after making payment, the payment will reflect automatically with ITD within 5-7 days.
But make the payment under minor code 400 and for the assessment year for which demand is raised, not for any other assessment year.

one more clarification please, the intimation says demand for AY 2009 does it mean AY2009-2010 or AY2008-2009
