Hra & lta not shown in form 16

12 July 2013 Dear Experts
I have changed my job during middle of the year that is in August 2012. now when I received form 16 from my previous employer, I found that they have not considered my house rent and LTA proof.
nor my new employer considered those
the query is now while filing my income tax return can I recalculate my taxable income and claim refund. since I got my travel and rent proof

16 July 2013 Yes,. in your return you can consider and recalculate the tax liability

24 August 2013 If you are filing the return then you can correct the mistakes made by the employers. Hence, you can take the House rent paid by you against HRA received by you at the same time if LTA is exempted then in both the cases it has not been considered but it it is taxable then include in your return and pay the tax accordingly.
