22 February 2011 No, no deduction will be available u/s 80C

22 February 2011 Mr.Moondra
If no deduction is allowable according to you, then what is section 80C(2)(xviii)(d) says.

22 February 2011 Section 80(2)(xviii)(d) clearly prescribes that stamp duty, registration fee and other expenditure for the purpose of transfer of house to the assessee are deductible U/s 80C. There is no pre-condition of housing loan in availing the deduction for the payment towards above purposes.

23 February 2011 With due respect to both the experts, I am just partially differing because expenses for every House property are not eligible u/s 80C but these are eligible only for 'residential house property'. Therefore, if, expenses were incurred for residential house property, I agree with both the experts but if expenses are incurred for other house property, deduction will not be available.
