I have joined Tata Sons (Indian Hotels Ltd,New Delhi) as CA(Fresher)via the recent campus placement programme.Iwish to know the type of working environment in corporates like - working hours,meaning of CTC,accomodation facilities,working days,holidays etc

COMING TO YOUR QUESTION , WORKING ENVIRONMENT IN CORPORATES,IT IS LIKE MYSORE BONDA IN WHICH YOU CAN NEVER FIND MYSORE.IT ONLY BONDA.NAME IS GLAMORISED.
PL. OBSERVE THE HEIRARCHY AND PROTOCAL LAID DOWN WITHIN THE ORGANISATION WHICH YOU HAVE TO ABIDE AND CARE FOR .
PL. TAKE NOTE OF THE CULTURAL DIFFERENCES WITHIN THE ORGANISATION AS DIFFERENT EMPLOYYEES COME FROM DIFFERENT ECONOMIC CLASSES AND EDUCATIONAL AND SOCIAL BACK GROUNDS.pl. do not bother much about the informal grapewine doing rounds in all big corporates.
you being in hospitality industry , much more courtesy and decency to customer is very important, though you may be in finance or commercial areas.
WORKING HOURS ARE FOR RECORD ONLY.NORMALLY FROM 10 AM TO 6 P.M .BUT YOUR JOB NATURE AND RESPONSIBILITY AND DEADLINES FOR WORK COMPLETION ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN FORMAL TIMINGS.
COST TO COMPANY IS CTC,INCLUDING SALARY,D.A,CONVEYANCE AND OTHER ALLOWANCWS, P.F,INSURANCE,LEAVE SALARY,LTA,BONUS ETC...
ACCOMM. AS DECIDED BY YOUR EMPLOYER AND PUT IN YOUR OFFER OF APPOINTMENT.EITHER COMPANY LEASE OR HRA.
WORKING DAYS AS DECIDED BY THE COMPANY.YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.HOLIDAYS LIST IS ALWAYS DECLARED BY ANY COMPANY IN ADVANCE EVERY YEAR .
APART FROM ALL FORMAL REGULATIONS ,THERE IS A DIVINE LAW 'work is worship'. DONT BOTHER SMALL OR BIG WORK. DO ALL WHAT IS ASSIGNED TO YOU. ALWAYS TRY TO TAKE OTHER SENIORS AND COLLEEAGUES HELP IN COMPLETING THE JOB ON HAND IF REQUIRED. FOLLOW YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT IN THE END.RESPECT SENIORS AND ELDERLY STAFF. TATAS VALUE SYSTEMS ARE GREAT.

Word of Advice would be, Try to learn maximum work and the type of work and tell you TATA Sons is a good organisations to start with.

20 October 2007 Thanks for the counselling provided
I want to clarify that I was recruited by Tata Sons(Entire Group) & later on allotted the Indian Hotels Ltd (taj Group) to work with. Hence, I was not very much clear about my work profile.However,I have come to know that the working in Tatas is very employee friendly and there is not that much work pressure as in other corporates nowadays and further, they do follow on record office timings.
Secondly,they have promised me to provide accomodation at Delhi on joining but at present they are not telling the sort of accomodation they will provide - furnished or unfurnished,individual or sharing,how much such accomodation is generally far away from my office,its cost to me approx etc.
I wish to have an idea wrt aforesaid issues
so that I wil be mentally prepared during my induction programme.

ACCMMODATION IS A BASIC NEED .
EVEN YOU CAN WALK INTO YOUR GROUP/COMPANY HRD MANAGER OR HIS IMMEDIATE SUBORDINATE TO FIND OUT.IAM SURE PROFESSIONAL ORGANISATIONS LIKE TATAS KNOW FOR SURE THAT BEGINNERS LIKE YOU SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH INFORMATION ABOUT BASIC NEEDS LIKE ROTI,KAPADA AND MAKAN.
