First of all congratulation on becoming a chartered accountant. The career option this profession offers is tremendous. You should reflect back on your ambitions and future plans to take the next step as industry and firms offers different and unique experiences. Probably the below questions should help you think in the right direction
1. Do you want to practice or do you want to follow the industry route in your entire career 2. Industry route can help you take up a managerial role in finance going up to Director, CFO, President, VP Finance, CEO roles and make strategic decisions for your organisation. Is this something you look forward to? 3. Big 4 experience will give you specialization in the chosen area of practice and will make you a domain expert (Tax, TP, Audit etc) - Is this something that will interest you?
You should know - What you want to become - 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 30 years from now and step forward in that direction. A word of caution - do not follow money or salary or compensation - follow what you like doing, that is what will make you successful.
