What should be done for brc bank is asking for shipping bill copy.

11 July 2024 In this situation where you have dispatched material to Nepal and the shipping bill has been generated but you haven't received the soft copy, and the transporter is not responsive, here are the steps you can take to obtain the necessary documents for BRC (Bank Realization Certificate) purposes:

1. **Contact the Transporter Again:**
- Make another attempt to contact the transporter. Try different communication channels such as phone calls, emails, and even physical visits if feasible. Explain the urgency and the requirement for the shipping bill copy.

2. **Check with Customs Authorities:**
- Contact the customs authorities where the shipping bill was filed. They might be able to provide you with a copy of the shipping bill or at least confirm its details.

3. **Check Online Portal (ICEGATE):**
- For exports from India, shipping bills are filed electronically on the ICEGATE portal. You can try logging into the ICEGATE portal using your credentials to check if the shipping bill details are available online. If not, you may need to register and obtain access to the portal.

4. **Contact the Export Promotion Council:**
- If applicable, contact the Export Promotion Council related to your industry. They might have procedures or contacts that can help you obtain a copy of the shipping bill.

5. **Legal Assistance:**
- As a last resort, consider seeking legal assistance to compel the transporter to provide the shipping bill copy. This might involve sending a legal notice or taking other legal actions depending on the jurisdiction.

6. **Alternative Documentation:**
- While you pursue the shipping bill copy, gather any other relevant documentation related to the shipment such as proof of dispatch, invoices, and correspondence with the transporter. These documents can be helpful in demonstrating the export transaction to the bank.

7. **Inform the Bank:**
- Communicate with your bank and explain the situation regarding the delay in obtaining the shipping bill copy. Provide them with any available documentation and assure them of your efforts to secure the necessary documents.

It's crucial to address this issue promptly as banks typically require shipping bill copies for issuing BRCs, which are essential for validating export transactions. Persistent follow-up with the transporter and relevant authorities will be key in resolving this matter effectively.
