What s the meaning of good cleared for home consumption

This query is : Resolved

05 March 2014 can anybody please explain me the meaning of good cleared for home consumption sec 2(25) of customs defines imported good ...any goods brought into India from a place outside India but dose not include good which are cleared for home consumption what s the purpose of excluding goods for home consumption. for determination of rate of duty also goods for home consumption are considered seperate

05 March 2014 Goods which are brought into India are stored in a custom station.

Thereafter, a bill of entry has to be filed by the importer for clearing the goods.

This bill of entry is known as bill of entry for HOME CONSUMPTION.

When goods are cleared from the custom station, they CEASE to be imported goods for the purpose of CUSTOM ACT.

That is why the definition uses the words "... but does not include goods which are cleared for home consumption"
