01 August 2014 Slab rate for wealth tax

is the tax rate for slab above 30 lakhs applicable for only cash on hand or even for cash at bank?

03 August 2014 Every Individual, Hindu Undivided Family and Company whose net wealth exceeds the maximum amount which is not chargeable to wealth tax in any previous year ending of 31st March is liable to file the wealth tax return. The maximum limit of net wealth not chargeable to tax under the provisions of the Wealth tax Act, 1957 is Rs. 30 lakhs at present.

In case of individual and HUF, cash in hand on the last moment of the valuation date in excess of Rs. 50,000 is an ‘asset’. In case of companies, any amount not recorded in books of account is ‘asset’ [Section 2(ea)(vi)].
