Cost Accoutancy

What is the proper technique of studying Cost accountancy in PCC? A senior told me that Cost Acc. Is complicated coz. “we have to take assumptions here and there in every numericals: the question maker will have made an assumption in mind and the student will have to be lucky to able to make the same assumption as the question-setter”.

The teacher in our coaching class has been teaching us only numericals. I recall, during our school days, we used to be first taught the foundation, the theory and then the practical.

What’s the proper and optimum technique?

09 April 2008 FIRST YOU WILL SEE THE PATTEREN OF COST ACCOUTANT IN YOUR EXAM PAPERS IN MOST OF CASES THEORY QUESTIONS ARE ASKED MORE THAN 30 TO 35 MARKS YOU WILL STUDY MORE SEREIOUSLY IN THEORY QUESTION THEN YOU WILL FIRST READ QUESTION OF PRACTICAL PROBLEM WHAT THEY WANT THEY ASK IN BOTTOM OF THE QUESTION,IN EXAM YOU WILL FIRST SOLVED THEORY QUESTION THEN YOU WILL TURN PRACTICAL QUESTION SO YOU WILL SET THE EXAM FEVER

10 April 2008 Does that mean… I should focus more on Theory part of costing (75pc) and the rest to the numerical part, sir??

Then why is the coaching teaching first the numerical part??

11 April 2008 I don't agree that the marks will be allotted only to those who assume the same as the valuer.

There can be more than one possible assumption.

As long as u mention the assumptions u have made in solving as problem, u should get marks what u deserve.

11 April 2008 what's the proper technique of of studin Costing?,,,,,

13 April 2008 is making "process a/cs, production budgets, etc" comes under theory PR numericals?

13 April 2008 Read Theory. Then concentrate on formats. Then practicals.

13 April 2008 All topics are practicals.
