A person is holding unlisted shares purchased 30-40 years back of the companies which are now defunct/non existent. Hence PAN of the companies are not known. Please advise whether these shares needs to be reflected in ITR 2 ? If so, Is it OK to keep PAN Column BLANK or written NOT KNOWN.

It's mandatory to quote PAN of the company. You cannot type any other text.

My query is partially addressed. Please note that these companies became defunct before PAN was introduced. Further the shares of these companies were purchased through IPO/Trade when they were listed on stock exchanges. Do such shares need to be intimated in ITR 2,
