Two PF accounts simultaneously?

30 October 2010 I have recently changed my job and have got a new PF account with my current employer. However I have not requested for a closure or transfer of my PF account with my previous employer. Will that be an issue? Am I allowed to have two different PF accounts - albeit one is dormant? Also, how long can I have the previous PF account dormant - I read somewhere recently that the government / EPFO has set a maximum idle limit of 3 years?

01 November 2010 It is advisable either you should take steps to transfer old PF account or withdrawal of funds.
