Transaction processing of banks having different branches

How processing of transactions takes place of Banks having different Branches arround the country.

I want to know practice steps they used to take to maintain there books , please enlighten me how they Practically maintain there books because in it use not to be maintained like books maintaining in Tally Softwares.

10 October 2012 Banks use various kind of high end software like finacle etc. Its make easy for banks to generate various report, need not do it manually. Also it is connected to all the branches via one common server i.e CBS(centralized server). So any transaction at any branch across country is possible.
