02 August 2025 Here’s a clear answer based on ICAI rules about **articleship training and travel time**:

---

### Whether journey hours count as period of articleship?

**No**, the hours spent traveling (journey time) **are generally not counted** towards the period of articleship.

* Articleship period is calculated based on actual working/training days at the principal’s place of training.

* Travel or journey time between locations is not considered as working/training hours.

---

### What about stipend during travel/journey?

* The stipend is **not increased or paid extra** for the journey period.

* Stipend is payable for actual training period/days only.

---

### Relevant ICAI Regulation (as per CA Regulations, 1988):

* **Regulation 44**: Articleship is for 3 years (or as modified) based on actual attendance.

* **Regulation 67**: Stipend payment conditions relate to actual service rendered, not travel time.

---

### Practical advice:

* Keep attendance records and communicate with your Principal CA regarding any travel.

* If you want specific reference, check ICAI official regulations or FAQs related to articleship.
