09 June 2010 Hi Sir,
We have taken a security service from a security service agency. They give us the bill every month but niether service tax number is mentioned on the bill nor service tax is applied in the bill. Plz tell me if we should deduct the TDS of the service provider or not ?

You should deduct Tax if ur payment in single bill exceeds Rs. 20000 or aggregate Rs. 50000 in a year.

TDS has nothing to do with Service Tax, i.e. making of TDS doesn't depend on whether Service Tax is charged or not.
The only thing to remember is that TDS is also to be made on Service Tax amount if it is charged.

09 June 2010 You should deduct Tax if ur payment in single bill exceeds Rs. 30000 or aggregate Rs. 75000 in a year.

its amended in budget-2010

service tax exempt up to 10 laks so he can not claim service tax up to exemption limit.

you will deduct tds on gross amount of bill individual/huf @1% inother case 2%
