tds return mandatory

14 July 2009 now the e-tds return is mandetary for each quater or not if no deductee record. if mandatory, what would be the penalty provision if not filed.

14 July 2009 If no deduction in the quarter then no need to file TDS return. It was going to be compulsory w. e. f. 01.04.2009 but has been postponed.

If deduction has been made in a quarter and return late filed then penalty of Rs. 100/- per day till the date return has been filed.
