TDS On orchestra payment

30 December 2009 Please tell me at what rate TDS shall be deducted om payament made for orchestra?

Wheather it comes under 194J or C?

30 December 2009 Musicians are professionals because they need training and knowledge about the instrument.

So TDS is deductable u/s 194C but orchestra as whole will be on the basis of contract.

But practically on the safer side deduct TDS U/s.194 J because percentage is higher and this decision is favourable to the revenue.
