Respected Members, We all know that TDS, Advance Tax & Self-Asessment Tax are all different froms of income tax, which is a direct tax, which means the impact & incidence of tax is on the same person. But as far as TDS is concerned, its impact is on the tax payer but incidence is on the tax deductor. Then how it can be justified as direct tax?

The tax deductor is an assessee-cum-scapegoat. He is in the worst category of assessees. . He has to discharge honorary duties to the Revenue, thanklessly. . Collecting tax from the individual payee is really a tedious job to which- willingly or unwillingly, the deductor performs by sparing his valuable time, money and energy from his business activities. . Collecting agents- like bankers are being rewarded by commission when the amount is deposited with them by the deductor. Dedductor does not get any reward. . He is fired, penalised, punished and harrassed by the lawmakers and administrators. . Mr. Stranger, such relevant and irrelevant provisions are to be followed as these are being enacted by our own nominees. .
