08 March 2012 Hi Experts,

Please clarify my below doubts. its urgent.

1.Whether consultation fees paid to doctors are elligible for medical reimbursements upto Rs.15000 per year or only bills for medicine purchase qualifies?

2. Whether tution fees paid for say sister qualifies under section 80C or its only for own children?

08 March 2012 1. The wordings in proviso (v) to section 17(2) is " any sum paid...." meaning thereby doctor's consultation fee can be included in the cap of Rs.15,000/-
2. Will not qualify since section 80C (4) says "any two children of the individual".
