Is it compulsory to ask for income details of previous employment for a new joinee to calculate the TDS on salary

NO. IT IS NOT COMPULSORY. EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT FORM 12B SHOWING DETAILS OF SALARY DUE/RECEIVED BY HIS FROM OTHER EMPLOYER AND WHETHER ANY TDS ON SALARIES IS DEDUCTED. IF THEY DONT PROVIDE THE FORM 12B EMPLOYER HAVE TO CALCULATE TDS AS USUAL.
