Dear Experts, As per the link below from the website, Under Transportation of Goods by Road, the 5th point says any service provider who is not a GTA, Rail Operator or Courier agency, will not charge their customer the GST on service of road transport withing India. As a Shipping company, where one would offer service of road transport, say from Chennai to Bangalore by road, will there be GST exemption of the invoices billed to the customer? https://www.caclubindia.com/articles/transportation-of-goods-under-gst-30237.asp

We shall be doing it as agents. We will have a contract with GTAs to provide service for us. Customer will be billable only from our end.

If you are a pure agent, then you will not come under GTA category. You need not to charge GST on such services. Raise a separate bill for the service you provide as an agent.

Our Invoice usually goes with all the components such as Ocean Freight, Documentation charges, terminal handling fees and etc, we bill customers transportation as Inland haulage. which is part of the same invoice, but we do have option of charging different rate of tax for each charge head. If we can give Inland Haulage (transportation by road) without tax, then I can take this by with our tax team to look into it.

You raise invoice for your own services and services as an agent separately. You can charge GST on your own services and reimburse the services as an agent without GST.
