28 July 2010 Only Chartered Accounatnts holding Certificate of Practice can take up tax audit assignments.

28 July 2010 Cost accountant cannot taking up the tax audit assignemnt. Whereas a practising chartered Accountant can take up the tax auidt assignment

03 August 2010 Direct Tax Code is still in the finalisation stage and there may be changes until final approval/implentation in due course.

However, in the menatime, developments show that only CAs shall be considered for audit function even in DTC as well.
