Got it! You're using Tally 9’s multi-currency feature, and you notice that the foreign currency amounts (like USD) show correctly, but the corresponding local currency (INR) values don’t match your expected exchange rate — e.g., showing 5000 INR instead of 100 INR for 1 USD.
Here’s what’s happening and how to fix it:
---
### Why this happens:
* **Tally records the INR amount based on the exchange rate you enter per transaction.** * If the exchange rate entered during the transaction is incorrect or inconsistent, the INR amount won’t match your expected conversion. * There is **no automatic or real-time forex rate update** in Tally. You must enter the correct exchange rate for each transaction manually. * If you changed exchange rates after entering vouchers, older entries won’t update automatically.
---
### How to fix it:
1. **Verify Exchange Rates at Voucher Entry:**
* When passing foreign currency transactions, Tally prompts you to enter the exchange rate. * Double-check the exchange rate you input matches the current prevailing rate you want (e.g., 1 USD = 100 INR).
2. **Correct Existing Transactions:**
* If older transactions have wrong exchange rates, you need to edit those vouchers and update the exchange rates manually. * There’s no bulk auto-update feature in Tally 9 for exchange rates.
3. **Check Currency Master Settings:**
* Go to **Gateway of Tally > Accounts Info > Currencies > Alter** and check if the base currency and foreign currency are set properly. * Confirm that the currency symbol, decimal places, and conversion factors are correct.
4. **Using F12 Settings:**
* When viewing foreign currency ledger or reports, press **F12 (Configure)** and check options related to currency display and conversion. * You can toggle between showing local currency, foreign currency, or both.
5. **Shortcut Tip:**
* There is no “auto-sync” for forex rates in Tally 9 — every voucher’s exchange rate must be entered at the time of transaction. * To quickly fix multiple transactions, export the vouchers, update exchange rates outside, and import back — but this requires advanced data handling.
---
### Summary:
* Multi-currency feature works well but depends 100% on **manual entry of correct exchange rates per transaction**. * To fix mismatched local currency values, **edit the vouchers and correct the exchange rate field**. * No automatic conversion sync exists in Tally 9, so routine update is manual.
