Tacit means something which is "unspoken or implied." An opinion or view which is not "voiced" is said to be tacit. In other words, a tacit point may be communicated indirectly in the form of gestures or signs. In some cases, a tacit piece of information need not be expressed with speech or words; it is inferred or understood (taken for granted) instinctively.
Here are a couple of sentences which will illustrate the meaning of the word with examples:
1. Her knowing smile gave me a tacit consent to make the next move. 2. Both parties are bound by a tacit contract, because they trust each other blindly.
