Statutory Register under companies Act

22 May 2010 Whether a company can keep statutory register in electronic form ( MS-Excel) ?
Are there any formalities to be complied with or filed with ROC ?
Pl explain with reference to relevant section of Companies Act.

22 May 2010 As per IT Act, yes Statutory Registers can be kept in Soft/electronic Form. As till date there is no case law too support the same

Also nowhere in Companies Act or Circulars it is permitted.

Thus it is advisable if Registers are kept in hard/Physical Form.
