Stamp duty on money gifted thru cheque

22 December 2010 Dear Experts,
I want to gift my sister x amount as gift.
Pls let me know, whether, I have to execute a gift deed and pay stamp duty.
Also pls enlgihten about the registration part of it.

23 December 2010 The payment of Stamp duty is different in different states.

In Gujarat; a 100 Rs. Non-judicial Stamp paper is sufficient.

A Gift Deed is necessary.

.

Its registration is not compulsory.
