04 June 2010 Dear Experts,

We have paid up capital of 10000 equity shares of Rs.10 each.

We have issued the share certificate, starting from Distinctive number 1 to 10000/-.

Now, we have consolidated the shares of Rs.10 each to Rs.100 each. Now there will be 1000 shares.

We have to issue the fresh share certificate. My question is whether the distinctive number will start from 1 or 10001.
Kindly reply

05 June 2010 Consldt Share Certificate to start from 10001.

Even in case of issue of Duplicate Share Certificate the Distinctive Number of the old/to be replaced share certificate is not mentioned in the new Share Certificate but latest Dinct. Nos. are given.

Regards,

Vignesh J

05 June 2010 I hold a different view. Since the face value is changed, the old distinctive numbers will not hold good any further. That data base has to be freezed and a new data base has to be created which should be correlated with the old one. The distinctive numbers can again start with 1.

We have done this for listed companies in which we have split the face value from Rs. 10 to Rs. 2.

06 June 2010 I agree with the answer of Mr. Rasesh.
