Service tax on transportation charges

31 August 2012 Sir, Is service tax attracted for the transportation charges received.

We sell goods to the customers and deliver the same to them at their premises for which we collect transportation charges. We use our own vehicles for delivery of goods. what is the position of Service Tax on such Transportation Charges received wef 01-07-2012

31 August 2012 The service tax for GTA service is to be paid by the consignee/service receiver and hence as GTA, i.e you have no liability if you are individual or firm. This service is under reverse charge mechanism.
